Riley Erin Jones!

Riley Erin Jones was born on October 28, 2009. She weighed in at 8 pounds 15 ounces, and was 21.75 inches long. She and her mother are doing very well, and she appears to be very healthy. We're hoping to get out of the hospital by tomorrow morning. I'm sure Chaliese will post more then! In the meantime, here are some pictures for everyone to enjoy...

Meanwhile, here are some of my picks:

This is a full-length shot of Riley. She's long, I think (though what do I know? Daniel was even a little bit longer!)

I don't think I was quite ready for the family picture, but everyone else looks great. Humorously enough, despite the fact that our doctor made it for the picture, he was actually in a c-section when we had the baby, so Dr. Edgerton delivered her instead. And he did a great job!

Here she is with her eyes open. She has that medicine gel junk they put in the baby's eyes...

I had more pictures, but I really don't like this interface; it's been a pain to deal with, so I am now quitting. Besides, that leaves more pictures for Chaliese to be able to post, anyway. But at least you get a glimpse!

Ah, due dates

So, on our cute babynamey blog countdown, I just noticed that our baby is "one day old." Then why do I still have a large protrusion out of the front of me with swollen hands and feet?
Life and expectations are not meant to go together, or that is one of the things we need to learn to overcome.
I have learned not to expect one thing--technology is NOT always correct. Thanks, but no thanks babynamey, our baby is still in negative numbers.

Enjoying the wait with Daniel

Clinton snapped these pictures at our Institute class on Friday (last week) just after Daniel had woken up from his nap. He just stood at the back of the room in the same position, the only thing changing was his expression. I just find these adorable!
And don't you just love the ears on his hoodie!!!

Made it through the night...

I was hoping (expecting) to head to the hospital last night, especially given the semi-consistent slew of contractions throughout the day yesterday, but alas, no. I slept soundly and like a baby (only getting up to go to the bathroom once at 6AM--a record). So, we're still waiting...

However, here are some fun updates from the past little while and pictures I hope you enjoy.

Daniel found Daddy's shoes and put them on. Now, he just needs to perfect walking in them.

Daniel loves riding the horsey at the outlet malls. It's his treat for being so good at the stores.

Daniel is climbing all over the place. He's getting quite good, although, still needs some help some times.

Ethiopian dinner with Nam & Cass--it was a great girls night out before baby comes (if she ever gets here.) Thanks for being such great friends.

Status...

Clint and I had an early appointment with our OB this morning. As of about 8 am, I was dialated between 3 and 4 and 80% effaced.
Still waiting, but progress feels good. Doctor says there is a 70% chance of baby coming in the next 48 hours!
...and if not, we have another appointment on Wednesday morning.

Trunk or Treat

We had a blast at our ward Trunk or Treat on Friday night (Oct 23). Of course this means that baby Riley has not come yet, but you've got to enjoy the waiting time, right!!!
Here are some pictures that show our masterpieces. Many thanks to Grandma Dee who inspired the penguin theme with Daniel's costume, and Grandma Cheryl for helping create the Antarctic scape, adult costumes and manning the car ( we passed out flavor ices--in keeping with the theme, of course) so I could go trunk or treating with Daniel. (Mom and I enjoyed hours cutting, gluing, sewing, painting...you know, creating. And, we did it mostly with things we already had around the house--ok, and a trip to Hobby Lobby and Salvation Army.)
It was so fun to see all of the ward members dress up and play in the spirit of Halloween. Daniel never said "trick or treat," but he would sign "please" before he got the candy, put the candy in his bucket and then sign "thank you." I was so proud of his good manners. :)
And, of course he enjoyed the chocolate (another sign he knows well.)

By the way, Clinton scored a goal at his soccer game today--he played excellently. This makes two goals for the season thus far. They were down players so the team ended up running the entire game. Every time he would run, people on the sidelines would comment on his long legs and stride and how quickly he would move. It's definitely one of his strengths. I'm glad he's enjoying the league; we're enjoying watching him play.

When we got home, Daniel, Grandma Wouden and I went for a brisk walk--I'm doing all I can to help baby Riley make her appearance. :)

Still waitingswqaz1`

I had my 39 week appointment, and we're still waiting. Riley is still weighing approximately 8 lbs. 7 oz. from the sonogram measurements and I'm still dilated to a 2.5 and 70% effaced. Dr. said we'd wait to see if labor would trigger itself naturally because she wasn't over 9 lbs. and we'd see if we make it to next Monday. If we make it to Monday, we'll schedule to be induced.
All signs are pointing to an easier labor than with Daniel. Encouraging...however, is there really such thing as an easy labor?!? I feel more prepared for this labor, but am also nervous. I'm hoping to go au natural for the whole thing, so am hoping it will be shorter than my first :)
I guess only time will tell. Here's to more waiting, and enjoying Halloween preparations and festivities in the meantime!

P.S. If you couldn't tell, Daniel helped with the title typing!

Family Blogger

I'm thrilled, my sister and her family have joined the blogging world! This means they will be keeping in tough, so I wanted to celebrate with a special blog in their honor.
Our blog has been a great way to keep in touch with Clint's family and friends, but now Rebecca, Greg and Timothy have joined the circuit, I can get updates from my family as well. As our college roommate used to say, "Wahoo!"

Ready...and waiting

Well, I have to hang a newly purchased and painted bathroom shelf and then we have finished my "to do" list of projects I wanted to finish before baby Riley comes. Our book shelves in our room are clear of clutter, the furniture is dusted among other cleaning chores, Riley's ribbon holder is made, receiving blankets are sewn and placed in the newly organized changing table cabinet, baby clothes are organized, etc.
Of course the dishes are a never-ending pursuit, but Clinton and Candace are super troopers helping with that venture :) Now, we're just waiting.
I've had weekly appointments for the past 3 weeks and have shown progress with the beginning stages of labor. As of Tuesday morning (38 weeks), I was dialated to a 2.5 and 70% effaced. We're not running to the hospital (although maybe that would help get things moving faster :), but we are excitedly and anxiously waiting. And, hoping for our 8 lb 7 oz (estimated by sonogram measurements) baby Riley to make her appearance soon.
